Social Science Department

Our diverse social studies curriculum extends beyond traditional history classes. We offer a variety of social science and history classes, ranging from modern world history and contemporary global issues to the study of social science disciplines such as psychology, sociology, and economics. These courses help students understand and analyze the complexities of human problems, enabling them to take an informed stance. Through our curriculum, we provide students with opportunities to apply what they learn in the classroom and to understand their own lives within a broader social context.
New Social Science Pathway (2026–27)
Beginning in the 2026–27 school year, Mountain House High School is proud to introduce a new Social Science Pathway designed to prepare students for civic leadership, law-related careers, and social impact fields. The pathway includes the courses Law & Society, Criminal Justice, and Ethnography & Society, offering students rich opportunities to explore legal systems, social institutions, and community issues through real-world application and research.
Students who complete the pathway will earn the California State Seal of Civic Engagement and receive a Social Science Pathway Cord at graduation, recognizing their commitment to civic participation, critical inquiry, and community leadership.
