World Languages Department
Mountain House High School offers students rich opportunities to engage in real-life learning through our World Language program. We proudly offer Spanish, French, and Mandarin Chinese at all levels, giving students the ability to develop their skills from introductory courses all the way through advanced preparation (AP).
Our World Language courses go beyond vocabulary and grammar—they immerse students in the culture, history, and traditions of the communities where these languages are spoken. Students build global awareness, strengthen their communication skills, and gain experiences that prepare them for college, career, and life in an interconnected world. From practicing conversational fluency to exploring authentic cultural practices, students grow in empathy, adaptability, and problem-solving.
In addition, Mountain House High School accepts credit on our transcripts through several outside language schools that teach Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, expanding access to heritage and community languages for our students. *See an MHHS Counselor for details.
Through these experiences, our students don’t just learn a language, they gain the ability to connect across cultures, broaden their perspectives, and become active participants in today’s global society.
