Drama Block Letter

Introduction  

Obtaining a Block Letter during high school represents a significant achievement in one or more areas of co-curricular and extracurricular activities.  The Block Letter for Drama is obtained by participation in both Drama courses AND extracurricular activities.  Students who wish to obtain their Drama Block Letter must fill out the Drama Block Letter Application found here:  https://tinyurl.com/mhhs-block


Criteria

In order to receive a Block Letter in Drama a student must meet the following criteria


Activity Description

Requirement

Drama Class with grade of “A”

4 semesters 

Extracurricular Play-Fall play/Spring Musical (on stage, tech crew or producing*)

2

Drama Club Participation (Active participation in the club, events, and volunteering is required)

2 years

2.5 overall GPA 

Required at time of award

Participation in the following:

  • Speech and Debate (full year)
  • Mock Trial (full year)
  • Outside play or production while enrolled in high school (on stage, tech crew or producing*)
  • Tech or produce* school performing arts event (band/choir concert, dance production, school meetings, etc.)
  • 6 hours of volunteer work at school or community sporting or performing arts events (concessions, statistics, scoreboard, gate, ushering, etc.)

2 of the activities in the list must be completed (may be duplicated)


Additional Honors

A student may earn additional honors in Drama (a pin or patch to add on to their letter) by accomplishing the following:

*Producing = working in the production of an event or show (construction, costumes, lighting, sound, etc.) OR working at least 20 hours to advertise and raise money for an event or show.
