Introduction
Obtaining a Block Letter during high school represents a significant achievement on one or more areas of co-curricular and extracurricular activities. The Block Letter for Colorguard is obtained by participation in both Marching Band/Colorguard courses AND extracurricular activities. Students who wish to obtain their Colorguard Block Letter must fill out the Colorguard Block Letter Application found here: https://tinyurl.com/mhhs-block
Criteria
In order to receive a Block Letter in Colorguard a student must meet the following criteria

Marching Band/Winter Percussion Class with grade of “A”

4 semesters (2 years)

Satisfactory Citizenship or higher in Marching Band/Winter Percussion class on report card

4 semesters (2 years)

Attendance at all Performances (All regularly scheduled concerts required for the assigned class)
|
2 years
|
|
2.5 overall GPA
|
Required at time of award
|
|
Participation in the following:
- Participation in MHHS Dance Courses (one year)
- Participation in outside Dance or Colorguard classes or groups
- Participation in Spring Musical (Orchestra, chorus, acting, tech crew, etc.)
- Private Dance/Colorguard lessons
- Colorguard Leadership Position
- 6 hours of volunteer work at school or community sporting or performing arts events (concessions, statistics, scoreboard, gate, ushering, etc.)

2 of the activities in the list must be completed (may be duplicated)

Additional Honors
A student may earn additional honors in Colorguard (a pin or patch to add on to their letter) by accomplishing the following:
