Course Description
HONORS MATH 3: One year course; Prerequisite: Completion of Math 2 with a B or better and teacher recommendation or Completion of Math 2 Honors.
The specific content of the course includes intermediate algebra skills, vector and three-dimensional geometry, trigonometry, polynomial and rational expression analysis, conic sections, parametric and polar functions, exponential and logarithmic analysis, and statistical data modeling and validation. This course prepares a student to take AP Calculus in high school or the equivalent 1st semester calculus course in college. The honors course will support an enriched level of depth of topics including computer programming topics and mathematically challenging extension problems. Students taking this course should express a strong interest and appreciation to be challenged and willing to do more outside of classroom work. This course prepares students for Calculus AB or BC depending on grade and teacher recommendation. This course fulfills the UC/CSU ācā requirement. This course is also eligible for UC honors distinction. Meets NCAA requirements
