Pre Calculus

Course Description

PRECALCULUS: One year course; Prerequisite: Completion of Math 3 or Math 3B.  

The purpose of precalculus is to increase the chance of success in AP and college level math courses.  Topics will be covered with an emphasis on building skills in abstraction, complexity and fluency. Topics may vary based on the needs of each section, but are likely to be drawn from::

Polynomial, radical, rational, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, and inverse trigonometric functions. The relationship between pairs of inverse functions. Concepts and notation of limits of functions, sequences and series.  Basic probability, counting and statistics. The analytic geometry of conic sections, cones, cylinders, spheres and prisms. This course prepares students for Calculus AB or BC depending on grades and teacher recommendation. Fulfills the UC/CSU ā€œcā€ requirement. Meets NCAA requirements.
