AP Calculus BC

Course Description

AP CALCULUS BC:  One year course; Prerequisite: Completion of Math 3 Honors or equivalent honors level pre-calculus course with a B or better.  Teacher recommendation is also suggested.

This is an advanced placement course which covers two semesters of college calculus (Calc 1 and Calc 2) of a standard three semester college calculus sequence. Specifically the course covers limits, differentiation and integration techniques and applications, simple differential equations, polar and parametric calculus and series approximations to functions. An AP exam in May will earn credit for either Calc 1 & Calc 2 or just Calc 1 depending on exam score.   This course fulfills the UC/CSU ā€œcā€ requirement. This course is also eligible for UC honors distinction. Meets NCAA requirements.   An approved graphing calculator is required for this course and must be purchased by the student. Computers will not be allowed on the AP exam.  The AP Course is intended to be taken by students who will take the AP exam during May. Approximate cost of each AP exam is $100.
