PE Course 2 Racquet/Net Sports

Course Description

PE COURSE 2 - RACQUET/NET SPORTS: One year course; Open to grades 10, 11, 12. Prerequisite: PE Course 1; This course meets PE graduation requirements.

Students will develop fundamental skills and special abilities applicable to specific areas. Rules and field experience in game strategy, tactics, psychological and evaluation techniques. This course is designed to give students the opportunity to learn through a comprehensive, sequentially-planned kinesiology and physical education program in accordance with the California Model Content Standards for Physical Education. Students will continue to be empowered to make choices, meet challenges and develop positive behaviors in fitness, wellness, and movement activity for a lifetime. This course will build upon the skills gained from PE Course 1. Emphasis is placed on students analyzing skills for effective movement. Units of instruction include all of the major racquet sports and games, conditioning, introduction to advanced kinesiology and physical education principles, fitness (including technology), and sport specific training. The units of study will be presented to the students through both blended and flipped learning with the use of Blended Schools Network and Canvas. The students are responsible to complete an online portion of the class that includes, but not limited to, informative videos and vocabulary directly related to physical education.
