Principles of Engineering (Honors)

Course Description

PRINCIPLES OF ENGINEERING (Honors)  One year course.  Prerequisite: Completion of Introduction to Engineering Design with a “C” or higher.  Open to grades 10-11. Fulfills UC/CSU “g” requirement.

This course is the second course in the PLTW Engineering Pathway.  Students who take this course will have an opportunity to participate in a specialization course, or will prepare them to take the capstone course.  This course is required in order to complete the Engineering Pathway, and receive recognition at graduation. In this class students will work through problems that engage and challenge, students explore a broad range of engineering topics, including mechanisms, the strength of structures and materials, and automation. Students develop skills in problem solving, research, and design while learning strategies for design process documentation, collaboration, and presentation. This course fulfills the UC/CSU “g” college prep elective requirement.
