The MHHS Synergy dance team, who are coached by teacher Michael Campos, returned home from a 4 day camp. They attended the USA dance camp at Great Wolf Lodge in Manteca last week and they brought home some team and individual awards. The team was awarded two superior plaques for two different routines. That's the highest ranking given for a routine. In addition, the team was awarded the hardest working team award, which is only given to one team out of the entire camp! In addition to receiving these team awards, some dancers were given individual awards as well. Two dancers, Yari Castellanos and Rhea Ramalingam, were awarded the camp's "pin it forward" pins for demonstrating good character, hard work and great effort in their dancing. In addition, Yari Castellanos, Khushleen Hothi, Tanisi Thakkar, Haasini Appini, Avitha John, Mady Gordon, Dhriti Chichila, Emi Buczynski, Davina Lee and Kieyanna Simmons all received ribbons for placing in the top three for their drill down drills. Seven dancers total received one of the camp's highest honors, super sensational dancer and they were also awarded all-american which allows them to receive an invitation to perform in either Florida, Hawaii or London. Those seven dancers are Jayden Kusaba, Rhea Ramalingam, Mady Gordon, Davina Lee, Rona Nicolas, Alyssa LeRoy and Yari Castellanos. In addition, Rona Nicolas was recognized as a top five finalist for overall top dancer of the entire camp. Needless to say the Synergy dance team did an AMAZING job at camp. They are excited and can't wait to perform this season at the football and basketball games and at the student rallies as well!
