Mountain House High School Mustangs have done it. The MHHS Varsity boys soccer team has made the playoffs for their 2022-23 season. The accomplishment has been the first one in the history of the Mustangs. This season has been a special one with ups and downs, tough wins and losses, and outstanding performance by every student-athlete on the team.
Coming into the season, the team hoped that all the players would come together and build a competitive team. With hard work and dedication, the team slowly combined its skills to form one team. As the games progressed, the chemistry of the players started to shine, and they compiled a team that would compete and reaches their first playoffs in MHHS Varsity boys' soccer history.
This team has also accomplished several personal goals, and some of the members of the team have broken school records and have placed themselves as MVP contenders, All-League, and other awards. Some of the players include Montgomery Carey (Gummy), Armin Mohammady, Priyansh Nath, Aarush Sharma, Dayton Dillman, and Keagan Wright. Montgomery finished the season with a fantastic record of 34 goals in 18 games leading the league in goals. He also made 5 out of 6 penalty kicks during the season.
The goals scored by Montgomery are a highlight of the team’s chemistry. They all play for each other and support each other day in and day out. The Mustangs have found a way to win and have fun. They have found that being a student-athlete has been rewarding, and will continue to work hard to pass on to the players following their path.
The Mustangs will travel to Del Oro on Tuesday, February 14th, 2023, @ 6 pm to take on the Eagles. Come and support the Mustangs while they embark on this new challenge in the weeks to come.
