  • Length: The word limit for the short story is 5,000 words

  • Each person may only enter one submission.

Entry Information

In order to enter your short story into the competition, fill out this Google Form.

The short story writing competition will end on April 16th, 2023!

All submissions are due on Sunday April 16th at 11:59 PM, with no exceptions.

Late submissions will not be considered for choosing the winner of the competition, so please make sure to get your short story in by that date!

The winner of the competition will be chosen by the beginning of May and notified through the contact information provided.

The prize will be sent to the winner virtually.

Be creative and have fun! We look forward to seeing everyone's short stories!

The O.W.L Club officers will be independently scoring the short stories on a rubric scale. The rubric is attached to this email. None of the officers will submit a story in order to keep the voting as unbiased as possible. The stories will be scored 1-30 by two randomly selected officers and the sum of both scores will be the score for the story. If there is a tie we will meet to re-evaluate the tied stories.
