Course Description
HEALTH EDUCATION: One semester course; Open to grades 9-12.
This course is designed for students to learn about career/health education. Students will study the physical, mental, emotional, and social factors of health. There will be a focus on learning the role students can play in maintaining their own health through deliberate behaviors and responsible decision making. Topics include life management skills; mental and emotional well being; diseases and disorders; substances and abuse; nutrition and physical fitness; family life education; HIV/AIDS; injury prevention and first aid; and careers in the health field. Assignments include special projects, oral presentations, video reports, reading in the content area, vocabulary and class discussions.
