Course Description

WORLD HISTORY: One year course; Grade 10.

World History will focus on explaining how thresholds of increasing complexity, differing scales of time and space, claim testing, and collective learning help us understand historical, current and future events as part of a larger narrative. Thresholds covered will include The Big Bang, The Stars Light Up, New Chemical Elements, Earth and the Solar System, Life, Collective Learning, Agriculture, Expansion and Interconnection, Acceleration, and The Future. Emphasis throughout the thresholds will also be placed on how humans have organized themselves, the structure and function of governments, conflict, and resolving global issues. Students will engage in historical analyses and investigations using the theories and practices from multiple disciplines, towards an integrated, interdisciplinary understanding of the history of the Universe. Fulfills a UC/CSU “a” requirement. Meets NCAA requirements.
