Course Description

LAW AND SOCIETY:  One year course; Open to grades 10, 11, 12.

This course will introduce students to the legal system and will provide  a historical and a comparative perspective of the law. Students will study the differences and importance of criminal, civil, and juvenile law.  Legal ideas and the development of legal reasoning are emphasized. The course will also examine law and the Supreme Court as mechanisms for social change in the areas of civil rights and civil liberties.  This course will also prepare students to participate in the competitive mock trial team if they choose to. Fulfills UC/CSU ā€œgā€ elective. Meets NCAA requirements.
