A concerning trend has surfaced in the LUSD community over the last year. District cameras and alarms systems have recently caught minors in our community trespassing on school campuses and climbing on the rooftops of the schools districtwide. The purpose of this message is to remind our community that our school campuses are closed during non-school hours, and that all rooftops in the school district are off-limits at all times. Rooftops are areas that are dangerous to access, and equipment on the rooftops are dangerous, and can be expensive to repair if damaged by intruders. Minors, students, or others identified on school rooftops or on school campuses during non-school hours are considered trespassers and will be reported to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office for prosecution. We do know that students occasionally lose balls, sports equipment, or other items on the roofs of the schools. If this happens at the high school, we encourage our students and community members to contact the school during normal business hours by phone at 209.836.7460 or by email at [email protected].
