Occasionally, the weather in Mountain House can get extremely hot, extremely windy, extremely smoky, or cold and wet. While we have a beautiful campus, our school is built for our generally mild weather during the majority of the school year. When the weather is forecasted to be extremely cold, windy, wet, or as in the case of this week, when the temperature is forecasted to be 105 degrees by 12:00 p.m. In cases of extreme heat, we will continue to monitor the weather and follow the Real Time Outdoor Activity Risk (ROAR) Guidelines for recess, physical education, athletics, and all outdoor activities. The ROAR guidance may be accessed via the Student Services website or by clicking here. Per the guidance all games, practices and outdoor activities, including PE, outdoor extra-curricular sports and activities, or any other outdoor activities will be cancelled or moved indoors when the heat index is 105 degrees or higher.
In addition, we want to remind students and parents that we have ample space for students to eat indoors during the lunch hour. While our covered outdoor eating area will remain open, we will be opening the hallways at lunch time so that students can choose to remain indoors during lunch if they choose.

The same accommodations for cold, wet, smoky, or extremely windy weather. We will continue to update parents and students as these instances arise and make sure to respond to protect our students at all time.
As always, if you have any questions about our safety plans during extreme weather, please contact us.
