Mountain House High School Professional Pathway Honor Ceremony

.On November 4, 2022 a number of juniors and seniors in the professional pathway programs at Mountain House High School (MHHS) were recognized.   The evening began with amazing appetizers and desserts prepared by the catering students as part of their capstone project.  Everyone agreed that the food was delicious and beautifully presented by the students.

This was followed by the induction of forty one juniors and seniors into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS).  Students had applied earlier in the year and were selected based on their academic performance and activities completed above and beyond their classes.  The induction ceremony was conducted by NTHS president, Kamesh Ayyagari, and treasurer, Sai Karthik Puvvula.

After the NTHS induction ceremony Ms Lisa Boulais gave a keynote speech which recognized the hard work and achievements of the students in the Biomedical Pathway.  At Mountain House High School students in their third year of the Biomedical Pathway are recognized in a “White Coat” ceremony which symbolizes the beginning of medical students’ journey.  This year’s white coats are different in two ways.  The first is that they have the new MHHS Biomedical Pathway logo above the left breast pocket.  This logo was designed by Rochelle Snyder, an intern in the Digital Arts department.  The second difference is that the coats were purchased through sponsorship donations from Trosien Orthodontics (Platinum level $1500 - see logo below) and Mike Samawi (Silver level $500).   These donations allowed all students to receive white coats.   Students also recited a modified version of the Hippocratic Oath in the ceremony.

The final item on the evening’s agenda was a gallery walk of the Biomedical Innovation student’s scientific posters.  This was their first attempt at documenting research in the poster format that is used at the university level and provided an opportunity for them to practice their presentation and communication skills.
