HOSA STUDENTS TRAVEL TO ALC
On January 25, 2023 a group of the Mountain House High School HOSA team attended the Area Leadership Conference at the Wentworth Center and San Joaquin Teachers College in Stockton, California. It was a day of networking, competing and skills labs. The other attending schools were Manteca High School, Venture Academy, Lathrop High School, McNair High School and Weston Ranch High School.
The morning started with the HOSA pledge (pictured above led by MHHS president Sophia Kwok). This was followed by a scavenger hunt to lighten the mood and get friendly competition started. Next Cal-HOSA State Officer, Eshaal Naveed, was introduced as was State Officer candidate, Anisha Pandey. We are proud to have a tradition of successful candidates for Cal-HOSA board positions. Students next went to their competitive events.
After competing in their events, students completed an array of skills labs run by Delta College nursing students. The skills labs included a HOSA uniform check, a drunk driving station where students walked wearing goggles that simulated intoxication, vital sign lab, a display relating to STIs, information about the nursing programs at Delta College, and a study skills display. Lunch was a tostada buffet and was enjoyed by all. After lunch there was a raffle followed by the main event - the awards ceremony. Below are the awards received by Mountain House High School. This week the HOSA team will begin competition in the Cal-HOSA Regional Competition which is the qualifier for the Cal-HOSA State Leadership Conference Competition.
