MHHS team won 3rd place in National Science Bowl regionals

.Our MHHS team won 3rd place in National Science Bowl regionals that they did this past Saturday, February 25th in Modesto.  It was an all day event with multiple rounds to compete with a variety of participating teams from different counties across the central region.  Our team was one question away from the 2nd place holders making it a very close match.

Freshman Ibrahim Nadeem, the founder/president as well as the captain of our Science Bowl Club, lead his team of three other team mates along with one alternate player (Anisha Pandey - Sophomore; Sanjo Sony - Freshman, Zackaria Hasan - Freshman, Rakshith M. Karthik - Freshman).  It indeed was an incredible win considering it was their first time with four freshmen and one sophomore in their team competing against mostly seniors and a few juniors.

We are very excited and hopeful for our team to make it to Nationals next year.  In order to accomplish that, a year round practice will be critical.

Below is a timeline that we are looking at for setting up a new team for next year.  Of course these dates are approximate and we would like feedback from Ms. White about availability of a room (possibly Learning Commons) at the high school and possibly any other conflicts going on.
  • March 9th, 2023 - Communication flyer goes out to recruit motivated and highly committed students who have enough bandwidth and are willing to work hard throughout the year for this competition.
  • March 16th, 2023 - Deadline to apply
  • March 23rd, 2023 - NSB testing done at MHHS (location to be determined)
  • April 10th, 2023 - Weekly Team practices start
