We are proud to announce the hiring of Dr. Daniel Andrade as the new music teacher and director of bands at Mountain House High School. Dr. Andrade will be teaching Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Winter Percussion, Guitar, and Music Theory. Dr. Andrade has been working in Lammersville Unified since 2018 as a music teacher at Hansen Elementary school, and he is excited to move to the high school and continue to build on the successes of the past years. See below for a short bio of Dr. Andrade's musical experience:Dr. Daniel Andrade began his musical pursuits at the age of 9, playing trumpet in the school band while receiving additional private instruction from his father, professional trombonist, arranger, and composer Ernest Andrade. Dr. Andrade learned to play the euphonium and eventually the trombone in high school, but also discovered an interest in jazz guitar stylings. Dr. Andrade pursued this interest and studied guitar with Phil Parkinson and jazz guitar technique with Tony DePaolo and Lyle Workman. While maintaining his interest in guitar, Daniel continued his studies in trombone with Kris Bowerman and successfully auditioned for the UC Berkeley Symphony Orchestra as Principal Trombone under the direction of David Milnes. While at Berkeley, Dr. Andrade composed and orchestrated several pieces that were performed at numerous recitals and soon discovered an interest in teaching music. Dr. Andrade began performing professionally with his jazz ensemble, East Bay Jazz Express after graduating from Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in music and later pursued a music teaching credential. Dr. Andrade earned his music teaching credential and master’s degree in music education from California State University, East Bay and a doctoral degree in music education from Boston University. Dr. Andrade has performed at Yoshi’s Jazz Club in Oakland, the Center for New Music in San Francisco, and several other Bay Area venues, and has stayed active as a music educator teaching band, choir, and general music in the Lammersville Unified School District in Mountain House, CA since 2018.
