Career Technical Education/Professional Pathways Home
Career Technical Education (CTE) provides students with the academic and technical skills, knowledge, and training necessary to succeed in future college and career. CTE prepares students by introducing them to workplace competencies and makes academic content accessible by providing it in a hands-on context. Students make real-world connections in CTE programs through career exploration, field trips, interfacing with industry professionals, work-based learning experiences, industry certifications, and many of our CTE pathways include courses where students can earn college credit by completing the pathway.
In addition, CTE courses are designed into 3 and 4-year pathway options where students begin at the introductory level and move through sequentially designed courses so that completion of a pathway means students have relevant and high-level knowledge and skills in the content area. Students must follow the CTE course sequence in order to fully benefit from the courses and to be considered a pathway completer, which also brings its own distinction and recognition at the graduation ceremony. Students apply for professional pathway recognition during their senior year. See our Professional Pathways Guide for more information.
