PE Waivers

 
All MHHS students must take PE in 9th grade. Students may only waive PE if they pass the Fitness Gram (except medical waivers). *Class of 2023 and Class of 2024 can waive Fitness Gram due to COVID-19 Impacts

STUDENTS CAN WAIVE 10 CREDITS OF PE IF THEY HAVE COMPLETED 4 SEASONS OF A MHHS SPORT; 4 SEASONS OF MARCHING BAND; OR 1 YEAR ENROLLMENT IN A MHHS DANCE COURSE. PLEASE SEE OPTIONS 1-4 BELOW FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. 
 
Important Note: When you are WAIVING PE your 10 PE Credits will be moved to the Elective Category. You will now be required to complete only 10 Credits of PE and will be required to complete 70 Elective Credits. 
 
Important Note: Starting Spring2023, students can no longer waive 5 CR (1 semester) of PE. Students must waive the full 10 CR of PE or take a full year length PE course to fulfil their PE requirement.
 
All PE Waivers must be submitted to your Counselor. 
 
 
1) MHHS Sports:
4 seasons of any school-sponsored sport waives 10 credits (1 year) of PE. 
 
*3 seasons will waive 10 credits, if the student attended MHHS during the Spring of 2020-June 2021 and were unable to complete a planned season
 
2) MHHS Marching Band/Winter Percussion/Winter Guard: 
4 seasons (semesters) of participation in any of the following: 
Marching Band, Winter Percussion and/or Winter Guard participation can waive 10 credits (1 year) of PE. 
 
*3 seasons will waive 10 credits, if the student attended MHHS during the Spring of 2020-June 2021 and were unable to complete a planned season
 
3) MHHS Dance Course:
2 semesters of enrollment in any of the following courses at MHHS: 
Beginning Dance, Intermediate Dance, Advance Dance or any other MHHS dance course can waive 10 credits (1 year) of PE.
 
Student is responsible for obtaining qualifying coach/teacher and counselor signatures on their PE Waiver Form.
4) Illness or Injury (Medical Waiver): 
Student suffering from a short-term disability shall provide a written statement to that effect from his/her physician and may postpone PE to a later semester or year. Students who cannot participate in PE due to medical reasons for their entire high school career can submit a doctors note saying that PE needs to be waived for all 4 years.
