Are there any advancement opportunities for students who want to be in Math 3 in 9th grade?
|
No, MHHS does not offer any programs for students to advance into Math 3 or any other Math.
The only advancement opportunity would be to take the Math 1 Summer Skipper Program to advance to Math 2 or Math 2 Honors in 9th grade.

I signed up for the summer math 1 skipper program but I have a vacation planned this summer. Will I still be able to complete the summer math program?

Unfortunately we do not have details about the math program at this time. If you are interested in the program, please sign the petition and once we have more details about it we will notify all families who signed the petition.

What is a Professional Pathway?
|
MHHS offers several pathways - students can choose to take a pathway as one of their elective options. Students are NOT REQUIRED to complete a Pathway for graduation or for college admission. CLICK HERE to learn more.

Yes, students can choose to not continue with a Pathway OR start a new Pathway in any year. Please check the Pathway Guide to determine if you are able to complete the full pathway. CLICK HERE to learn more.

Can I complete more than 1 Professional Pathway?
|
Yes, students can complete more than 1 Pathway at MHHS. It is recommended that the student make a 4-year plan to plan out how to do so.

How can I guarantee that I get all the courses I signed up for?

There is no way to guarantee all courses you signed-up for. We do our best to give each student every class they choose - however, sometimes a class gets full or there is a conflict with another course.

All students must enter their Course Request by February 2nd.

No, there will be no option to change your schedule - please choose your classes wisely as you will be making a full-year commitment.

Do I have to put an alternate course for my elective?
|
Yes, each elective you sign-up for, needs to have an Alternate course listed, just in case we are unable to give you your first choice.
Alternates needed for: World Lang., Pathway Courses, Additional Elective courses.

How many credits do you earn for a class?
|
1 semester course (passed with a D or better) will earn you 5 credits.
1 year long course (passed with a D or better) will earn you 10 credits.

AP/Honors

What is the difference between an Honors, AP, or Regular course.
|
Honors Course - will be a more advanced level of the course, is graded on a 5.0 scale and gives you the “GPA bump”. Should anticipate about 1hr of HW per night per class.
AP Course - will be a more advanced level of the course, is graded on a 5.0 scale and gives you the “GPA bump”. Should anticipate about 1hr of HW per night per class. Can sign-up for the AP Exam to earn college credit (if passed with a 3 or better).
Regular Course - graded on the 4.0 scale, Should anticipate about 30 minutes of HW per night, per class.

How many Honors/AP classes should I take?
|
Students are not required to take ANY AP/Honors courses. Students should only sign-up for the AP/Honors version if they love that subject and are performing well in similar subjects currently.
MHHS Counselors do not recommend you sign up for more than 2 Honors/AP Classes.

How many AP/Honors classes are required for college?

ZERO - you are not required to take ANY AP/Honors classes to be admitted to a 4-year university.

Are there any sports for 9th graders to try out for?
|
Yes, 9th graders can participate in Sports or other Extracurricular activities. CLICK HERE to learn more.

For most clubs no - you will not earn high school or college credit for participating. For select competitive teams, there may be a college credit element. CLICK HERE to learn more.

Non-MHHS Courses

I want to take a Community College class at Delta during the summer before starting in 9th grade - can I do that?
|
No, students are not eligible to take any courses outside of MHHS until after starting in the 9th Grade in August.

Language Academies

I took a Language Academy in 7th/8th grade - will it be added to my High School transcript?

Students who completed one of the approved language academies in 7th/8th grade (Tamil, Telugu, Hindi) can have the course they took in 7th or 8th grade added to their High School transcript. You will need to submit an official transcript to your Counselor.

When will we receive the official schedule?
|
Students receive the official schedule (order of classes, teachers) at Walk-Through Registration. This usually happens at the end of July or beginning of August. An announcement will be sent to all students and families over the summer.

NCAA

I want to be a college athlete, what do I have to do?
|
You will want to take courses that are NCAA approved, please view the course list (column F) will tell you which courses are approved for NCAA. You will also need to review NCAA PowerPoint CLICK HERE.

Does my student need 2 or 3 years of World Language to apply to college?

Schedule Changes

Can I change my schedule at the beginning of the Fall Semester or Spring Semester?
|
At Walk-Through Registration there will be an opportunity to meet with a Counselor, if there is a mistake on your schedule - you will have the opportunity to fix it. You will not be able to request a schedule change at any point during the year.
