What is the State Seal of Biliteracy?
The State Seal of Biliteracy is a recognition by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction for graduating high school students who have attained a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in one or more languages in addition to English. The State Seal of Biliteracy is marked by a gold seal affixed to the diploma or transcript.

MHHS partners with the San Joaquin County Office of Education and the State of California to offer the "Seal of Biliteracy" as a special recognition on our seniors' diplomas.
The California State Seal of Biliteracy recognizes high school graduates who have demonstrated proficiency in English and at least one other language. This prestigious seal is added to the student’s diploma, showcasing their bilingual skills to colleges and employers.
